Hang It Straight works offline and requires no account. The app does not send your measurements, settings or usage information to us, and contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
1. About this policy
This policy explains how the developer of Hang It Straight ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the iPhone app, visit this support website, or contact us.
2. Information stored and processed on your device
The app uses your iPhone's motion sensors through Apple's Core Motion framework to calculate tilt and provide leveling guidance. These readings are processed on your device. We do not receive them, and the app does not save a measurement history.
To work properly, the app also keeps a small amount of information locally on your device, such as your in-app preferences (for example, whether sound guidance is on) and simple counters or flags that help the app behave sensibly (for example, remembering that it has already asked you for a rating so that it does not ask repeatedly). This information stays on your device, is not sent to us or to third parties, and is not used to identify you.
Calibration and other live measurement state are held in memory during use. The app does not provide its own cloud storage or sync service.
3. Permissions, tracking and advertising
- No registration or user account is required.
- The app does not access your camera or microphone.
- The app does not access your photos, contacts, location or Apple Health data.
- Sound guidance plays locally generated tones; it does not record audio.
- The app contains no ads, advertising identifiers, third-party analytics or third-party crash-reporting SDKs.
We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-app advertising or tracking.
4. Support emails
If you email us, we receive your email address and any information you choose to include, such as your message, device details or screenshots. We use this information to respond to your request and troubleshoot reported issues. Please avoid sending sensitive information that is not needed for support.
Support messages are handled through our email provider, Google Gmail. We retain correspondence only as long as reasonably necessary to handle your request, related follow-up, or applicable legal obligations. You can contact us to request access, correction or deletion of information you have sent us.
Where applicable, we process support correspondence on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to requests and maintaining the app.
5. Apple services
Apple operates the App Store, TestFlight and iOS services under its own privacy policies and your Apple settings. Apple may provide us with aggregate app statistics and, depending on your settings and how you use these services, diagnostics or feedback. This is separate from the app's on-device measurement processing.
The app may ask you to rate it using Apple's standard in-app rating prompt. Apple handles your response; the app does not receive your rating or review.

6. This website
This support and privacy website is hosted on GitHub Pages. We do not add analytics scripts, advertising or tracking cookies to these pages. GitHub may process technical information, including your IP address, when serving the website.

7. Your choices
You can change your preferences within the app. Deleting the app removes the information it stores locally from your device; offloading the app may retain it. Device backups are managed separately through your Apple settings and may retain app data.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information, or object to its processing. Contact us using the email below to make a request. You may also contact your local data protection authority.
